mihimaru GT vocalist hiroko (25) is currently in the hospital after being diagnosed with a case of pneumothorax, a condition in which there is a collection of air between the lungs and the chest wall.

On Wednesday, mihimaru GT performed a concert in Gunma as part of their current tour. Although she started feeling unwell at the time, she completed the performance. The next day, she participated in a TV show taping, but because of her increasing chest pains she went to the hospital for a medical examination. After the pneumothorax was discovered, hiroko was quickly admitted to the hospital.

mihimaru GT still has eight more concerts scheduled for their tour, which ends on July 10. Two shows have already been postponed: Miyazaki on June 13 and Fukuoka on June 15. Depending on her recovery, it is hoped that she will be able to resume performing at the concert in Nagoya on June 18.

There was a post yesterday on mihimaru GT's blog about this, and also a pop up on their website announcing postponed concerts. I hope hirokos alright Confused

Get well soon hiroko! Wink

I wish her quick recovery. How does this pneumothorax happen? Hopefully its nothing fatal... mihimaru GT will prevail yet another day no matter what!

Frown Now I'm really worried about her. Hope she won't need any surgery.

There's an article here that explains what pneumothorax is.

Just read in tokyohive:

Quote:
mihimaru GTs vocalist hiroko is still recovering from pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Just after the group began their nation-wide tour in Gunma, hiroko complained of chest pains and was sent to the hospital to undergo examination. She was diagnosed with pneumothorax and immediately checked into Tokyo Metropolitan Hospital on June 11, 2010.

Two previous performances in Miyazaki (6/13) and Fukuoka (6/16) were recently postponed. Since her recovery has been un-satisfactory, the group has postponed two more shows in Nagoya (6/18) and Nagano (6/20). Hiroko is currently in her home where she is receiving medical care.

mihimaru GT is a J-Urban/Pop group formed by Miyake and hiroko, both lyricists and vocalists. Their latest single Omedetou was released on 4/18 and just released a new ballad album on 6/16 titled, mihimaballads.

At the beginning of June Mihimaru GTs lead vocalist hiroko announced a severe case of pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and had to cancel several stops on their tour. Fortunately, hiroko has made a full recovery and the tour will resume starting July 3rd in Yokohama.

Their tour originally had gotten postponed due to hiroko feeling sudden chest pains at their Gunma stop. She was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a collapsed lung, causing the cancelation of six stops across Japan. On her recent checkup the doctor re-examined her and gave her a clean bill of health.

Hiroko was grateful for the change in her health and the support of her fans. She stated with great enthusiasm, Im sorry to have caused so much worry for so long. To everyone who supported me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really look forward to seeing everyone at the concert tomorrow!

All of the postponed shows have been rescheduled for September to make up for the fans who missed on their chance to see Mihimaru GT earlier.

I just about gave myself a heart attack right now! I saw an article about hiroko's hospitalization, and the headline read "mihimaru GT's hiroko Passed Surgery Now Committing Herself to Return to Performing Live!" but I just saw up to 'passed' and for a split second I thought they were going to say she passed away / died Eek I was thinking "BUT SHE WAS OKAY THE OTHER DAY! Cry "

I think I need more sleep... Frown
